Inauguration of new Brenntag warehouse in Mumbai

In an official ceremony Brenntag in India has inaugurated its first 100% Brenntag managed warehouse, which is located about 50 kilometers from its Mumbai office. This new facility will assist in meeting the changing demands of local customers and ensure the integrity and quality of products while reinforcing personal and environmental safety.

L. Balakrishna, Managing Director of Brenntag India: “Before we used five different warehouses to fulfill our needs for storing and handling our goods. This consolidation into a single warehouse will efficiently improve our QSHE standards and will bring cost savings to the company. It is exciting for us and we have eight Brenntag employees to manage it, supported by fifteen contractual employees.”

The new warehouse standing at 100,000 square feet has a general storage area, allocated areas for food and pharma, and also has a segregated hazardous chemical storage space. Furthermore, it has separate air-conditioned (16-25 °C) and cold rooms. Drumming will be automated using a PLC machine. A blending unit is also in the plan for the future. L. Balakrishna continues: “It is an energy saving warehouse where natural lighting is used until sunset, except in the cold rooms. Requirement for cooling is much less, thus adding to the energy efficiency of the facility.”

Knud Mohr, COO of Brenntag APAC, adds: “India is a strategic priority for Brenntag and a country in which we have invested significantly in for many years. We have always believed in setting higher than normal standards for supply chain excellence and warehousing because we believe quality is important for our customers and supplier partners. Once again we make a leap forward to maintain the high standards we have set for ourselves and we are proud to see this level of warehouse in India, which is completely on par with any other country in which Brenntag is operating.”

The inauguration and ribbon-cutting of the new warehouse was attended by Knud Mohr together with Christian Frimann, President for South Asia and South East Asia- Brenntag APAC, and L. Balakrishna. About 140 people from Brenntag India joined the celebration, which included the traditional Indian prayer. Following the safety video, the participants did a tour of the warehouse.
