After leading Cambrex through a significant period of growth, transformation and strategic expansion, Tom Loewald and the Board of Directors have implemented a leadership succession process planned by the Board and designed to ensure continuity and position the company for future success. As part of that process, the Board has appointed Claudio Russolo as Chief Executive Officer. Claudio will assume the role of President and Chief Executive Officer on November 6, 2026, following a transition period during which Tom will remain actively engaged in the business and work closely with Claudio, the leadership team, customers and other key stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition.
A central element of the Board’s succession planning has been the development of Cambrex’s next generation of leadership. Over several years, Tom and Claudio partnered closely in leading the business, with Claudio assuming progressively broader responsibilities across the organization. Claudio joined Cambrex in 1998 and held positions of increasing responsibility including Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Business Unit President, and Chief Operating Officer. The Board’s appointment reflects a thoughtful and deliberate succession process aimed at preserving Cambrex’s strong culture, customer focus and growth momentum.
Wayne Hewett, Chairperson of the Board, credited Loewald with helping shape Cambrex into the company it is today. Hewett shared, “Tom has been instrumental in Cambrex’s evolution and success.
