U.S. Water’s Cambridge, Minnesota and Plymouth, Minnesota facilities were recognized for excellence in workplace safety and health during the 2017 Governor’s Safety Awards luncheon in Minneapolis. U.S. Water is one of 279 employers to be honored through the awards program, coordinated by the Minnesota Safety Council. Donald Brozek and Mike Bock, Cambridge facility production shift leads, and Peter Betts, production manager, accepted the two awards on behalf of U.S. Water.
“Congratulations to U.S. Water for helping to make life safer inside their organization and beyond,” said Paul Aasen, president of the Minnesota Safety Council. “Safety may start at work but it extends to the roads and to home and we are all safer due to the good work by U.S. Water.”
“We are very proud of the achievements of our Cambridge and Plymouth facilities and their diligence in the pursuit of an injury free workplace. Both facilities continue to lead by example to exemplify U.S. Water’s safety culture.” said Kevin Kitchen, U.S. Water’s Environmental Health and Safety Manager. “This year’s recognition continues to demonstrate U.S. Water’s commitment to safety as we focus on providing safe and environmentally sound solutions to our customers, employees, company, and communities.”
Applicants for the Governor’s Safety Awards program are judged on several years of injury data as it compares with their industry’s national statistics, and on their progress in implementing a comprehensive safety program. The Cambridge facility received one of 59 awards for Outstanding Achievement, with industry rates that are 51-90% better than industry average. The Plymouth facility received one of 182 awards for Meritorious, with industry rates that are better than average for a least three years.
