Bespak Awarded Gold EcoVadis Sustainability Rating for its Holmes Chapel Site

Bespak®, the specialist inhalation CDMO, has achieved a Gold EcoVadis sustainability rating for its Holmes Chapel site. The result places Bespak among the top 5% of companies assessed worldwide.

“Bespak is proud to once again achieve the EcoVadis Gold rating for our Holmes Chapel site. This recognition highlights our long-term commitment to maintaining high standards and driving continued progress in sustainability across every aspect of our business.” Says Chris Hirst, CEO of Bespak. “Over the past year, we secured Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validation of our greenhouse gas reduction targets and established a clear roadmap to achieve net zero, supported by measurable targets and accountability across the organisation.”

EcoVadis is a trusted provider of business sustainability ratings that has evaluated the sustainability management systems of over 150,000+ organisations around the globe. Its evidence-based framework evaluates performance across four key areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

This marks the 2nd Gold EcoVadis rating for Bespak’s Holmes Chapel site, and the first Gold rating since Bespak became an independent global CDMO focused on inhaled and nasal drug delivery.

Ahead of this year’s assessment, Bespak strengthened its sustainability management system by conducting a gap analysis, standardising policy documentation across the organisation, and expanding employee sustainability training to include carbon reduction, biodiversity and life cycle assessment. The company also launched its first supplier sustainability engagement workshop in September 2025, bringing together strategic suppliers to align on evolving sustainability expectations.

Benedicta A. Bakpa, Head of ESG at Bespak, said: “Bespak’s Gold EcoVadis rating has been awarded at a time when we are working hard to champion the transition to low carbon pressurised Metered Dose Inhalers (pMDIs) in the wider industry. This rating demonstrates our commitment to strong sustainability performance, operational consistency, and continuous improvement. It is the latest in a long line of exciting milestones for Bespak and we look forward to many more.”

Bespak publishes an annual ESG Report and discloses its sustainability performance through EcoVadis. Its greenhouse gas reduction targets have been validated by the SBTi and independent verification of emissions baselines by the Carbon Trust. Bespak also aligns its reporting with the GRI Standards, SASB guidelines, the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles and the Global Biodiversity Framework.
