CordenPharma Closes Acquisition of AmbioPharm, Strengthening Our Global Peptide Platform

CordenPharma has successfully completed the acquisition of US-headquartered peptide CDMO AmbioPharm, representing a significant milestone in our peptide growth strategy that further strengthens our position as a leading global partner for peptide-based therapeutics.

With the closing of the transaction, AmbioPharm’s facilities in North Augusta, South Carolina (USA) – to become CordenPharma South Carolina – and Shanghai (China) – to become CordenPharma Shanghai – will be integrated into our global manufacturing footprint over the coming months, enhancing our ability to support complex peptide programs across development, clinical supply, and commercial manufacturing.

In CordenPharma South Carolina, we expand our downstream capabilities, including enhanced purification and expanded lyophilization, with additional investment in upstream capacity planned. In CordenPharma Shanghai, we benefit from a cutting-edge facility adding significant upstream peptide manufacturing capacity.

Greater Geographic Reach with Increased Supply Chain Resilience

The addition of a second U.S. peptide facility and a new presence in Asia reinforces our Peptides Platform and enhances our global manufacturing network, providing customers with increased geographic flexibility and supply options that help ensure reliable delivery across all stages of the peptide product lifecycle.

In the US, our CordenPharma Colorado site complements the new South Carolina facility with expanded R&D capacity and large-scale commercial expertise, creating fully U.S.-based peptide API supply.

In Europe, our robust GMP peptide development facility in Frankfurt, Germany, alongside the new up- and downstream capabilities in Shanghai, help support more regionally aligned supply models across three continents.

Enhanced Value for Our Customers

Our newly-combined customer base will directly benefit from:

  • Expanded capacity and technical capabilities for complex peptide APIs
  • Greater flexibility in manufacturing location and scale-up pathways
  • Increased supply chain resilience
  • Accelerated development and commercialization timelines through our integrated expertise

Overall, our combined platform delivers a more flexible, scalable, and reliable path from early development through global commercialization.

The acquisition also strengthens our integrated offering, supporting seamless end-to-end supply from drug substance to drug products, including sterile injectable and oral solid dosage forms, with expertise in oral peptide delivery.

Looking Ahead

With the successful closing of the transaction, the AmbioPharm sites will be fully integrated into our global CordenPharma facility network and operate under the CordenPharma brand, creating an expanded global team of ~3500 employees.

We are pleased to welcome our new colleagues to CordenPharma and look forward to building the future of peptide therapeutics together, with even greater value for our combined customer base and their patients worldwide.
